OUR LOGO

The globe represents our focus on the political world. The axis is tilted toward the Middle East, representing our regional starting point. The spade represents our tireless focus on skill. A spade is traditionally associated with card games, such as poker, spades, or hearts. These games have an element of luck or surprise, as does the political world, but you cannot master them without developing a real expertise. The same is true for political analysis. At Sage, we want to professionalize the world of political analysis by developing rigorous standards. In a metaphor, we want to move political analysis from a world of medicine men to a world of doctors. We welcome you on the journey!
OUR LEADERSHIP

Welcome to the Sage Institute! In my 15+ years as a political analyst in the government, academia, private sector, and think tank world and my eight years living abroad, I have long thought about how we can better inform ourselves about world politics. None of us can be experts on everything, and yet we somehow feel the need to be - whether to vet candidates for election based on dozens of complex issues or to come to an opinion on whether our country should be involved in a specific country's war or politics. How are we expected to make informed judgements on all of this?
The best way to help, in my view, is to help inform the informers - that is, to make the journalists, media, and political analysts who inform us better informed themselves and ensure they are objective and open-minded to all perspectives. Whether you are a journalist, a policymaker, an analyst, a student, or a curious layperson just trying to get smarter on foreign affairs, we are here for you. Join us on our journey! |
